One Hundred Churches = One hundred hours
Providing mental health support to our clergy colleagues
Would your church consider including St Luke’s for Clergy Wellbeing in your PCC’s annual giving? Specifically, we are seeking 100 parishes in each diocese to make an annual donation of £100.
St Luke’s wants to support all the clergy who turn to us in their dark hours, but we desperately need funds. Will your church help today?
In dioceses across England and Wales, St Luke’s for Clergy Wellbeing has provided over 100 hours of couselling for clergy members or their families.
Our work today
We receive phone calls and emails from the clergy requesting help, sometimes for themselves and sometimes for their family members.
It is particularly saddening when we’re contacted by young curate families concerned for their children’s mental wellbeing. The parents, at the start of their life in ministry, are trying to create a stable foundation and shore up their children’s mental health, knowing that life will be disrupted further with curacies ending and the family being moved again to pastures new.
Pressures of living in a digital age can make children more vulnerable. With no memory of an easier, calmer world – a time before TikTok to draw upon, these pressures can begin to show in high levels of anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm etc.
Support for the future
Getting children the support they need is vital. Early intervention can stop problems from getting worse and help prevent more worrying mental health issues further down the line in adulthood.
Your church’s support can help us provide treatment with accredited therapists for clergy and their families. Although counselling is not a quick fix, it can empower and create positive habits – learning to tackle concerns head-on and finding solutions, whether that’s making effective changes in life or discovering different ways of coping with problems.
We are asking that your church is part of One Hundred Churches = One hundred hours. One hundred churches funding assessment, diagnosis, and counseling for clergy and their families.
